A good phrase to know. I'd hate to run out of gas anywhere.

Romanization styles...

I know that each language written in Cyrillic has their own form of romanization, but is there one true proper way for each language? I know majority of people use what they were taught, or what seems right to them. I have my own form of romanization (I'll post it at the end), and I use it because it makes pronunciations easier for me to figure out. One thing I'd like to know, why in some romanization styles is the letter "Я" romanized as "y"? That confuses me, because the style I'm used to uses "Ya" as the romanization of "Я". Also, is it necessary to memorize every romanization style? That sounds like a chore! ;)

Russian Phrase of the Day

Today's Russian phrase is:

Можно Ваш номер телефона? - Mozhno Vash nomer telefona? (Prn: Mozhna Vash nomer telefona?) and it means "Can I have your telephone number?" Perfect thing to ask a hot Russian woman, right? ;) Oh, BTW, this is formal, because it uses the word "Ваш". (See, I have learned something! LOL.)

Good free language learning sites?

Okay, I know there's gotta be someone out there reading my blog. Does anyone know of any really good free language learning sites? Mango Languages is a good one, but you only get like 50 lessons, and 7 lessons with all of the features, and then they want you to pay. I would, but I don't have a job right now, and money is hella tight for my parents.

First post! Yay. Well, I'm not too sure what to put here.. so let's start off with a Russian phrase, okay?

Сегодня много снега? - Segodnya mnogo snega? (Prn: Sevodnya mnoga snega?) It means "Is there much snow?"
